Privacy Policy

Sugar Golf (Pty) Ltd (“Sugar Golf”, “we”, “us”) supplies premium golf balls direct to golfers and through appointed distributors in South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.

This page explains the lifecycle of your personal information — how it is collected, used, stored, shared, kept and destroyed when you use this website — and how you can see, correct or delete it. We are the responsible party for that information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

By using this site you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. What we collect

Information you give us

We only ask for personal information when you choose to contact us:

• The contact form — your name, your email address, the topic you select and the message you write.
• The newsletter sign-up — your email address.

That is all. This website has no accounts, no passwords and no payment pages. We never ask you for card or banking details — purchases are completed on our distributors' own websites, under their own privacy policies.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, ours records standard technical information when a page loads. This is handled by our hosting provider and may include the IP address of your device, the device type, the operating system and browser you use, the pages you view and the time you viewed them (“log data”). We use it to keep the site running, secure and fast.

2. Cookies and information stored on your device

This website sets no cookies. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no third-party cookies placed by us.

Two small preferences are saved in your own browser's local storage so the site remembers how you like to read it:

• sg-currency — the currency you chose for the savings calculator.
• sg-units — whether you prefer metres or yards.

A short-lived sg-fx entry also caches the day's exchange rates. None of this identifies you, none of it is sent to us, and clearing your browsing data removes all of it.

3. Location

We do not ask for, collect or track your location. Nothing on this site requests access to your device's location.

4. Analytics and advertising

As at the effective date above, this website runs no analytics and no advertising trackers. If we introduce them, we will update this policy before switching them on, and we will say plainly what they collect.

5. Third parties involved in running this site

A few services are involved in delivering this website. Where your information reaches them, it is limited to what is described here:

• Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the site, and processes the log data described above for performance and security.
• Google Fonts — the site's typefaces load from Google's servers, so your IP address is visible to Google when a page loads.
• YouTube — the review videos load only when you click one, and use YouTube's reduced-tracking youtube-nocookie.com service. Once you press play, YouTube's own terms and privacy policy apply.
• Google Workspace — our email. Anything you send to info@sugar.golf is stored in our mailbox.
• Our distributors — we link out to S2Zero, Golf Concepts, Sugar Golf USA and EGN Golf. Once you leave this site, their privacy policies apply, not ours.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

6. How we use your information

• To answer your enquiry and to communicate with you about it.
• To send you the newsletter, if you asked for it.
• To keep the website secure, available and working properly.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

7. Information sent outside South Africa

Because the site is delivered through Cloudflare's global network and our email runs on Google Workspace, your information may be processed on servers outside South Africa. As required by section 72 of POPIA, we use service providers that are subject to data-protection laws or binding agreements offering a comparable level of protection.

8. Security

The security of your personal information matters to us, and we maintain reasonable, commercially acceptable safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we hold, to protect it from unauthorised access, destruction, use, modification or disclosure.

Please be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. How long we keep it, and how it is destroyed

Personal information is kept for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, and is then destroyed after five (5) years by purging the records from the system on which it is stored — unless the law requires us to keep it for longer.

10. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Ask what we hold about you, and to be told whether we hold anything at all.
• Correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or obtained unlawfully.
• Object to us processing your information.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, where our processing relies on it.
• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
• Complain to the Information Regulator (see below).

To exercise any of these, email info@sugar.golf. We will not charge you for a reasonable request, and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

11. Complaining to the Information Regulator

If you believe we have handled your personal information unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. POPIA complaints are submitted through the Regulator's eServices Portal.

12. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date shown at the top of this page and remains in effect except in respect of any changes to its provisions in future, which take effect immediately once posted on this page.

We may update or change this policy at any time, so please check it from time to time. Continuing to use the site after we post changes means you accept the modified policy.
